Our Mission Statement
Giving pets a second chance at life.
Khloe’s Second Chance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families facing financial hardship access life-saving and life-enhancing cancer treatments for their pets. In special cases, we also provide sanctuary to animals in need who have no safe place to go.
We work to reduce the financial barriers to veterinary oncology care by offering funding support, connecting families to resources, and collaborating with veterinary providers. Our goal is to ensure that no pet is denied critical cancer treatment solely because their family cannot afford it.
Through community donations, partnerships, and education, we are building a compassionate network of support—because every pet fighting cancer deserves the chance to heal and be with the people who love them.
Khloe — The Heart Behind Our Mission
Khloe came into my life as a two-month-old puppy from PAWS, a shelter in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She had been found abandoned in the woods and brought to the shelter for a second chance — a theme that would come to define her life and, later, this organization.
I remember the day I met her like it was yesterday. From that moment on, we shared an unbreakable bond.
Khloe would go on to face not one, but two battles with cancer. The first began with a tumor near her shoulder. At that time, I was still trying to find financial stability in my own life. The overwhelming cost of her medical care felt like an impossible mountain to climb. That’s when a compassionate vet referred me to Magic Bullet Fund, an organization founded by Laurie Kaplan in honor of her own beloved husky, Bullet.
With the support of Magic Bullet Fund, we successfully raised the full amount we needed for Khloe’s surgery. I will be forever grateful to Laurie and to the fund for giving us that extra time together. Sadly, Magic Bullet Fund has since closed its doors, after helping over 900 pets through cancer treatment. Now, their legacy will live on through Khloe’s story and this organization.
About a year after her first surgery, the cancer returned — more aggressively this time. After careful consultation, we made the difficult decision to amputate her leg all the way to the shoulder. Khloe was 12 years old, and I worried whether she’d adapt. But in true Khloe spirit, she powered through, defying the odds and living joyfully for nearly three more years.
On January 8, 2025, at almost 15 years old, Khloe peacefully left her physical body. It was the beginning of a new year — and the start of a life without my best friend, my family, my everything.
Though she’s gone, Khloe left behind a spark in me — the belief that every pet deserves a second chance. It’s that spark that ignited my founding of Khloe’s Second Chance.
This nonprofit exists in Khloe’s honor. With all my energy, I will work to help other families in crisis Khloe’s Second Chance will provide care, comfort, and hope to pets who deserve to live full, beautiful lives.
Rest in heaven, my sweet angel.
